Embarrassment to govt: Chiranjeevi opposes Telangana Bill in RS, demands Hyderabad be made UT
In an embarrassment to UPA, a minister on Thursday opposed Telangana Bill in Rajya Sabha in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, drawing flak from BJP which questioned whether a member of the Council of Ministers can oppose the government's decision.
Participating in the debate on the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi opposed the bill in the present form and sought amendments to take care of both Telangana and Seemandhra regions
Rajagopal apologises to MPs for 'hardship' caused by pepper spray attack
Lagadapati Rajagopal, who quit Lok Sabha soon after his pepper spray attack, has tendered an apology to all MPs for the 'hardship' they faced due to his action.
"I sincerely apologise to the hardship caused to you by my action on February 13 in the Lok Sabha. Whatever may be the circumstance and reason, I will not justify my action," Rajagopal said in a letter.
Malayalam music composer Reghu Kumar passes away
Malayalam music composer Reghu Kumar passed away at a private hospital here on Thursday following a brief illness, family sources said.
Kumar (60) is survived by his actress wife Bhavani and two daughters.
He was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai last week and passed away around 2 AM on Thursday after his health condition deteriorated, they said.
Hailing from Kozhikode, he made an entry into the film industry in 1979 with the film 'Eeswara Jagadeeshwara'. He had composed music for 60 films and produced seven movies.
He gave music in films like 'Thalavattam','Hello My Dear Wrong Number', 'Shyama', 'Boeing Boeing', 'Maya Mayuram' and 'Kanakkinavu'.
