INTRODUCTION

The objective of the Fellowship is to provide integrated five year fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students from minority communities, as notified by the Central Government to pursue higher studies such as M. Phil and Ph.D. The Fellowship will cover all Universities/Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) and section 3 of the UGC Act along with those which are not under the purview of UGC and will be implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs through UGC for students belonging to the minority communities. The fellowship under Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students will be on the pattern of UGC Fellowships awarded to research students pursuing regular and full time M. Phil and Ph.D courses. The fellowship holders under this Fellowship will be known as Ministry of Minority Affairs scholars.

Fellowship Details:

Number of fellowships: 756

Duration of the Fellowship for M.Phil.: 2 Years

Duration of the Fellowship for M.Phil. & PhD: 5 Years (2 years as JRF, 3 years as SRF)

Fellowship Of Rs.25,000/- per month for initial two years (JRF)
Of Rs.28,000/- per month for remaining tenure (SRF)

Contingency for Arts & Commerce Of Rs.10, 000/- per annum for initial two years.
Of Rs.20, 500/- per annum for remaining three years

Contingency for Sciences & Engineering Of Rs.12, 000/- per annum for initial two years
Of Rs.25, 000/- per annum for remaining three years.

Departmental assistance Of Rs.3,000/- per annum per student to the host institution for providing infrastructure

Escorts/Reader Assistance Of Rs.2,000/- per month in cases of physically and visually challenged candidate

Eligibility:
* Candidates belonging to one of the minority community (i.e. Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist & Christian) who have passed the post graduation examination with minimum 50% marks in concerned subject and who desire to pursue full time research without JRF of UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET.

* Candidate should get admission and registration for regular and full time M.Phil./PhD courses in University/Academic Institution
