India Post PA/PS Exam 2014 Syllabus and Pattern

The Postal / Sorting Assistant Exam consists of two papers.
Paper 1 : Aptitude Test
Paper 2 : Computer / Typing Test

Paper 1 - Aptitude Test :
This test is of 100 marks. This test consists of four sections. Each section consists of 25 questions which are of 25 marks. Those are, General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning & Mental Ability and English Grammar.

General Knowledge Section : For this section, you should prepare Current Affairs (last 6 months updates on appointments, deaths, awards, summits etc), Sports, Basic concepts of History, Geography, Economy, Indian Polity and General Science.

Mathematics : The questions of this section will be of Tenth standard. Prepare the basics of basic maths (shortcuts, process of finding squares, cubes, square roots, cube roots), simplifications, approximations, ratios and proportions, simple and compound interests, percentages, averages, profit loss, time and distance, time and work, speed and distance, Mensuration etc. Focus more on Mensuration and Simplifications as you will get up to 10 questions from these areas.

English Grammar : The questions will be of basic English grammar. Prepare antonyms, synonyms, prepositions, adverbs, usage of verbs, conjunctions, tenses, singular and plural, direct and indirect speech etc.

Reasoning & Mental Ability : The questions will be from basic reasoning topics. Prepare blood relations, directions, Cubes and dice problems, basics of analogy, coding and decoding, alpha numeric symbol tests, comparisons (ranking test), Calenders, Statement and assumptions, statement and conclusion, series completion, seating arrangement, venn diagrams etc. There will be no questions from our banking non verbal reasoning but questions from traditional non verbal reasoning like cubes and dice problems. Focus more on basic reasoning concepts, prepare basic techniques and place values of alphabets.

Paper 2 - Computer / Typing Test : This test is of 30 minutes. Usually this test consists of two parts. Those are Typing Test (15 minutes) and Data Entry (15 minutes). Your typing speed should be 30 words per minute (in English) and 25 words per minute (in Hindi). This is the basic speed.

  1. WHAT WILL BE THE MINIMUM MARKS TO BE CALLED FOR SECOND ROUND (TYPING TEST) IN ALL CATAGORIES OF ODISHA REGION.
