Delhi High Court Asked IBPS & Finance Ministry To Furnish Details About Vacancies

As reported by "Business Standard", the Delhi High Court asked Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and Finance Ministry to furnish details about vacancies in all nationalised banks here within one month.

Justice Hima Kohli directed the ministry to furnish the details by November 11 after a group of bank aspirants moved the court against the government notification to keep 10 per cent reservation.

The court was hearing a petition filed by candidates, who appeared in the tests for various posts in all nationalised banks, claiming the 10 percent vacancies which were not filled in the first round of counselling be alloted to other qualified candidates based upon the marks scored by them instead of carrying them forward.

"Despite availability of vacancies in the financial year 2014-2015 to accommodate qualified candidates, the respondents are attempting to not fill up entire vacancies in the financial year 2014-15 but only fill limited vacancies and carry forward remaining vacancies to the next financial year 2014-2015," the petition alleged.

As per clause 10 of the notice, a reserve list to the extent of approximately 10 per cent of the vacancies under each category has been kept, subject to the availability of candidates.

"The petitioner are aggrieved by the decision of IBPS to limit filling up of vacancies available for the year 2014-15 to 10 per cent of the reserve list for the post.

"There may be many more vacancies which are created either as a result of non-joining of qualified candidates in first round and also fresh vacancies that are created. It is totally unfair to keep the available vacancies unfilled," the petition states.

In respect of the information uploaded on the website earlier regarding re-examination of CGLE-2013 at Lucknow, Patna, Allahabad, Delhi, Jaipur, Shimla and Dehradun, the Commission has received queries from candidates regarding re-examination.

The Commission hereby clarifies that candidates who appeared in Tier-I and Tier-II from a centre other than those mentioned above in CGLE 2013 will not have to appear in re-examination. However, those candidates who appeared in Tier-I from centres other than those mentioned above BUT appeared for Tier-II from the centres mentioned above will have to appear in re-examination in Tier-II.

Further, candidates who appeared in Tier-I from the centres mentioned above and cleared Tier-I and appeared for Tier-II exam from the centre other than those mentioned above will be required to take only Tier-I Re-examination and will have to clear the same.

India Post PA/PS Exam 2014 Syllabus and Pattern

The Postal / Sorting Assistant Exam consists of two papers.
Paper 1 : Aptitude Test
Paper 2 : Computer / Typing Test

Paper 1 - Aptitude Test : This test is of 100 marks. This test consists of four sections. Each section consists of 25 questions which are of 25 marks. Those are, General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning & Mental Ability and English Grammar.

General Knowledge Section : For this section, you should prepare Current Affairs (last 6 months updates on appointments, deaths, awards, summits etc), Sports, Basic concepts of History, Geography, Economy, Indian Polity and General Science.

Mathematics : The questions of this section will be of Tenth standard. Prepare the basics of basic maths (shortcuts, process of finding squares, cubes, square roots, cube roots), simplifications, approximations, ratios and proportions, simple and compound interests, percentages, averages, profit loss, time and distance, time and work, speed and distance, Mensuration etc. Focus more on Mensuration and Simplifications as you will get up to 10 questions from these areas.

English Grammar : The questions will be of basic English grammar. Prepare antonyms, synonyms, prepositions, adverbs, usage of verbs, conjunctions, tenses, singular and plural, direct and indirect speech etc.

Reasoning & Mental Ability : The questions will be from basic reasoning topics. Prepare blood relations, directions, Cubes and dice problems, basics of analogy, coding and decoding, alpha numeric symbol tests, comparisons (ranking test), Calenders, Statement and assumptions, statement and conclusion, series completion, seating arrangement, venn diagrams etc. There will be no questions from our banking non verbal reasoning but questions from traditional non verbal reasoning like cubes and dice problems. Focus more on basic reasoning concepts, prepare basic techniques and place values of alphabets.

Paper 2 - Computer / Typing Test : This test is of 30 minutes. Usually this test consists of two parts. Those are Typing Test (15 minutes) and Data Entry (15 minutes). Your typing speed should be 30 words per minute (in English) and 25 words per minute (in Hindi). This is the basic speed.

Lagadapati Rajagopal, who quit Lok Sabha soon after his pepper spray attack, has tendered an apology to all MPs for the 'hardship' they faced due to his action.

"I sincerely apologise to the hardship caused to you by my action on February 13 in the Lok Sabha. Whatever may be the circumstance and reason, I will not justify my action," Rajagopal said in a letter.

Malayalam music composer Reghu Kumar passed away at a private hospital here on Thursday following a brief illness, family sources said.

Kumar (60) is survived by his actress wife Bhavani and two daughters.

He was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai last week and passed away around 2 AM on Thursday after his health condition deteriorated, they said.

Hailing from Kozhikode, he made an entry into the film industry in 1979 with the film 'Eeswara Jagadeeshwara'. He had composed music for 60 films and produced seven movies.

He gave music in films like 'Thalavattam','Hello My Dear Wrong Number', 'Shyama', 'Boeing Boeing', 'Maya Mayuram' and 'Kanakkinavu'.

Promissory Note - Banking Awareness for Competitive Exams 2014

A financial instrument that contains a written promise by one party to pay another party a definite sum of money either on demand or at a specified future date is termed as Promissory Note.

A promissory note typically contains all the terms pertaining to the indebtedness by the issuer or maker to the note's payee, such as the amount, interest rate, maturity date, date and place of issuance, and issuer's signature. The 1930 international convention that governs promissory notes and bills of exchange also stipulates that the term “promissory note” should be inserted in the body of the instrument and should contain an unconditional promise to pay.

Promissory notes that are unconditional and saleable become negotiable instruments that are extensively used in business transactions in numerous countries.A promissory note is usually held by the payee. Once the debt has been discharged, it must be cancelled by the payee and returned to the issuer.

The person who makes the Promissory Note and promise to pay is called the maker and the person to whom the payment is done is called the Payee. It is duly stamped.

Features of Promissory Note:
1. The promissory note must be in writing- Mere verbal promises or oral undertaking does not constitute a promissory note. The intention of the maker of the note should be signified by writing in clear words on the instrument itself that he undertakes to pay a particular sum of money to the payee or order or to the bearer

2. It must contain an express promise or clear undertaking to pay- The promise to pay must be expressed. It cannot be implied or inferred. A mere acknowledgement of intendedness is not enough.

3. The promise to pay must be definite and unconditional- The promise to pay contained in the note must be unconditional. If the promise to pay is coupled with a condition, it is not a promissory note.

4. The maker of the pro-note must be certain- The instrument should show on the fact of it as to who exactly is liable to pay. The name of the maker should be written clearly and ascertainable on seeing the document.

5. It should be signed by the maker- Unless the maker signs the instrument, it is incomplete and of no legal effect. Therefore, the person who promises to pay must sign the instrument even though it might have been written by the promiser himself.

6. The amount must be certain- The amount undertaken to be paid must be definite or certain or not vague. That is, it must not be capable of contingent additions or subtractions.

7. The promise should be to pay money- The promissory note should contain a promise to pay money and money only, i.e., legal tender money. The promise cannot be extended to payments in the form of goods, shares, bonds, foreign exchange, etc.

8. The payee must be certain- The money must be payable to a definite person or according to his order. The payee must be ascertained by name or by designation. But it cannot be made payable either to bearer or to the maker himself.

9. It should bear the required stamping- The promissory note should, necessarily, bear sufficient stamp as required by the Indian Stamp Act, 1889.

10. It should be dated- The date of a promissory note is not material unless the amount is made payable at particular time after date. Even then, the absence of date does not invalidate the pro-note and the date of execution can be independently proved. However to calculate the interest or fixing the date of maturity or lm\imitation period the date is essential. It may be ante-dated or post-dated. If post-dated, it cannot be sued upon till ostensible date.

11. Demand- The promissory note may be payable on demand or after a certain definite period of time.

12. The rate of interest- It is unusual to mention in it the rated of interest per annum. When the instrument itself specifies the rate of interest payable on the amount mentioned it, interest must be paid at the rate from the date of the instrument.

Some IBPS PO II Qualified candidates are protesting outside Rahul Gandhi's residence for last few days. These are the candidates who were declared qualified in IBPS PO II (after interview stage) but could not be alloted a  Bank.

IBPS started the common recruitment process of 19 PSU banks for probationary officers in 2011, but, in this first year of the recruitment process, there were no common interviews and IBPS just issued scores, rest it left to banks for publishing the vacancies, taking interviews and selecting candidates.

IBPS introduced the common interview process in IBPS PO II (the process started in 2012  and common interview result came out in March 2013). Total 7,50,000 candidates appeared for IBPS PO II, out of which 61339 candidates were qualified for interview process and finally approx 45000 candidates were gives a "Qualified" status after interview. In the common interview notification of IBPS PO II, IBPS mentioned -

"Depending on the vacancies in each bank of his/ her preference, a successful candidate will receive through a computerised system an offer from one of the Participating PSBs. Vacancies remaining unfilled on account of candidates declining offer, will be filled from among the remaining candidates, through subsequent iterations. "

IBPS did first round of allotment in March 2013, while second and third round of allotments were done in August 2013 and January 2014. After these three rounds of allotments, IBPS could allot a bank to only 28118 candidates and hence approx 19,000 candidates could not be allotted a bank.

Now, these candidates are demanding that before starting the allotment for IBPS PO III, first IBPS should accommodate these candidates and provide them a job.

1. AP CM Kiran may resign and launch new political party: Ministers

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is contemplating to resign from his post against the state's division and launching a new political party, two state ministers said here on Sunday.

"The whole country says the (Telangana) bill for division is undemocratic. Still, they say that we will go ahead and make the bill win by hook or crook, pass even by voice vote. In this situation, there is a need for a new party. Kiran Kumar Reddy would definitely form a new party and try to keep the state united."

"We actually decided that we should quit on (February) 16th. But, main opposition BJP says that the bill has not been tabled. Chief Minister is not quitting today to strengthen that. When it is officially announced that the bill has been tabled in parliament, then he will quit and all of us would quit," state Law Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy told reporters.

2. India and ADB signed loan agreement to improve rural roads in 5 States

The Government of India (GOI) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $275 million loan agreement to continue improving rural roads in the states of Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal. The loan represents the second tranche of $800 million financing facility under the Rural Connectivity Investment Program (RCIP).

Joint secretary of Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Nilaya Mitash and Country Director of ADB, Ms. M. Teresa Kho signed the pact.

Executing agency of the project: Ministry of Rural Development (MORD) at the central level, while the state governments of Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal are charged with overall implementation at the state level for a period of 43 months.

The loan will construct 3,693 km of all-weather rural roads in the states which will benefit nearly 1,800 rural habitations. Second phase of project is expected to be completed in June, 2017.

The central government will provide counterpart funds of $81.56 million for a total second tranche project investment cost of $356.56 million.

3. Policeman guarding polio workers killed in Pak blast

Peshawar: A policeman guarding a polio vaccination team was killed and another injured in a bomb blast near this northwestern Pakistani city on Sunday, the latest in a series of attacks on workers involved in the campaign against the crippling disease.

The incident happened near a CNG station on the outskirts of Peshawar, officials of a rescue service said. One policeman was killed and the injured was taken to a nearby hospital. According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rahim Shah, the bomb was planted near a post of the 'Sehat Ka Insaf' programme.

The programme has replaced polio campaigns. Instead of running a polio-specific drive, health workers are now targeting nine vaccine-preventable diseases, including polio. Bomb Disposal Squad officials said two kilogrammes of explosives were used in the attack.

No group claimed responsibility for the blast though such attacks are usually blamed on the outlawed Pakistani Taliban, which has banned polio vaccinations in the tribal belt till the US stops its drone strikes.

The Taliban ban has left thousands of children vulnerable to polio even as Pakistan remains one of only three countries where the disease in endemic. Dozens of health workers and policemen have died in attacks on polio vaccination teams in the country's northwest and Karachi in recent years.

5. Villages to be submerged by Polavaram dam trigger controversy

New Delhi: The proposed Polavaram irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh may have been granted the status of a national project, but the villages which are likely to be submerged once it is ready has become the bone of contention between Seemandhra and Telangana Congress leaders.

The controversy surrounding the Bhadrachalam sub-division in Khammam district, which consists of villages that will be submerged, has triggered controversy against the backdrop of Union Cabinet's nod to transfer 130 villages to Seemandhra.

This has resulted in a slew of developments at the national capital with Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment P Balram Naik leading a delegation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi to draw her attention towards the tribals who will be affected by the project.

However, Seemandhra Congress leaders are firm over the transfer of villages. "It is necessary that these villages are transferred to Seemandhra," Magunta Sreenivasulu, Congress Lok Sabha member representing Ongole constituency, said.

There were four members in the panel.One female and others are male interviewer.They asked me to sit.I said ,"Thank you Sir".
