Many candidates facing difficulty in scoring good marks or even minimum qualifying marks in general awareness section in IBPS Bank Po & Clerk Exams and RRB Officer Scale 1 & Office Assistant Exams. If you are also having the same problem, this article is for U. I will explain how to prepare for general awareness section in this post.
General awareness section comprises different modules.
1. Banking Awareness
2. Economic Affairs
3. Current Affairs
(a) Sports
(b) Awards
(c) Persons in News
(d) Science and Technology
1. Banking Awareness section is very important. To get good knowledge over this subject, collect the banking related topics that you come across while reading the bits online or in books. Collect all the information related that particular topic and write a notes. For example, take 'nationalisation of banks' topic. You may face questions like, when nationalisation of banks was done, how many banks were nationalised 1st phase, banks nationalised in 1st phase, when another 6 banks were nationalised, what happened to New bank of India, like that you have to prepare complete information regarding that topic. For this topic there is long history. If you collect complete information, it will be useful for interviews also. So that you can revise everything before the exam and you can answer any question related to that topic. Just write the topics you come across in previous exam papers or current affairs questions And write a complete notes on it. Use Wikipedia for the information you want. I will try to post some banking awareness questions. I have already some banking awareness questions for interview. Goto links provided below to read some questions.
Banking Awareness Questions And Answers Set: 1
Banking Awareness Questions And Answers Set: 2
Banking Awareness Questions And Answers Set: 3
2. Economic Affairs: You can apply same strategy for this also. Govt schemes, govt financial moves, bilateral affairs comes under this section.
3. Current Affairs: You have to cover last 6 months current affairs questions. You will get 75% current affairs from last 3 months. First read them before going back. Read the English newspaper daily.
It is useful for current affairs and English section. Write a notes and drill down on the topic you read. suppose, if u read some news about IMF, collect all the data related to IMF like its abbreviation, headquarters, present MD, membership countries, whether India is member of that country or not, why it was established, when it was established. like that.. if you prepare notes like that, u will know the subject completely. if you are good at basics, u can easily answer any question related to IMF.
Likewise, prepare sports topic. Suppose if you read about french open, read completely about that topic. Where french open held this year, who is the winner and who is the runner, country they belongs. French open is a tennis tournament. So, what are other major tennis tournaments. Like that, what are major cricket tournaments, hockey tournament..etc. Know the Ministers in cabinet. Write a complete list. If you read some player won some cup, remember the player name and game he plays.
Write all the presidents or prime ministers of other countries who are in news. What i want you to do is, know the basics of the topic you are reading. Don't blindly read the current affairs or any other section. Write a list of important days and keep reading them. If you are not able to remember them, just leave it.
If you read some awards news, like Dadasaheb phalke award, you have to know who won this award, who is he/she, what was his contribution to get that award, for which field Dadasaheb phalke award is given. Just like that Saraswati Sammon award, etc. There are many awards.
Thats All! This is a post for the candidates who are not able to score minimum score in general awareness section and dont know how to prepare for general awareness section for IBPS Bank PO and Clerk Exams & also for IBPS RRB Officer Scale 1 and Office Assistant Exams. Sorry..I am not able to give replies to your comments for next 10days. I can just update the news on our blog. If Any one of you can answer others queries, try to do that.

Friends in my life I was very good at academic studies till Xth. From XI I was not that mush serious about academic studies but was very passionate about competitive exams. In my graduation I decided to join Indian Army. I joined National Cadet Corps and became senior Under Officer. I attended many camps at National level also got Gold medal as a Best Cadet & for Map Reading, Communication in TSC Camp. Appeared for the SSB interview but couldn’t clear the Conference round.
I decided to do MMS in Marketing & when I was in last semester of MMS I decided to join Public sector Banks. One of my friends motivated me a lot for the same. Also got guidance from some friends who were already working with some PSBs. I prepared very seriously for the Three Months and written 5 exams and get selected into all of them.
My Strategy for BANK EXAMS :
• Complete the basic study of all the sections from some good books in one month
• From next month start solving the question paper of previous bank exams
• Try to focus those types of problems which you find more difficult.
• Everyday solve at least one practice paper.
• Join Some online test Series.
Three months are enough to clear Bank Exam and Get A Job
BANKCLERKPO.COM helped me a lot. Lot of Thanks to Radha Mohan Reddy!
I never joined any coaching class for Bank exam; also I never faced difficulty in the any of interview as I got training from some experts including one Brigadier & Colonel in Indian Army during my graduation itself. In my life I have written around 40-50 competitive exams but couldn’t clear, because I was not serious about all those exams & I clear all the 5 exams for which I appeared in last six months.
My Next focus will be to get Higher position in Banking sector as early as possible.
“Be serious about your TARGET, Do a SWOT analysis of yourself, Prepare a STRATEGY and try to follow it, SUCCESS will be yours”
BEST WISHESH TO ALL OF YOU!

Bank employees salary revision is due from 01.11.2012. Earlier i have posted Base Date for Merger of DA with Existing Basic Pay of Bank Employees in 10th Bipartite Settlement. Here i am going to post the expected salary of bank probationary Officer & Clerk After Pay Revision November 2012.
Note: This revision is applicable to RRB's and private sector bank also. But the allowances are different for different banks. This a reply some of the doubts expressed in comments section.
Bank Probationary Officer Salary After Revision in 2013:
At present a newly joined Bank PO's Basic Pay is Rs.14,500. After merging the 60.15% DA as on 01.11.2011 to Basic Pay, it will be Rs.23,221/- We are expecting minimum 20% increment to this basic pay, but we can expect 25% increment to this basic pay.
If IBA agree for 20% increment, Final Basic Pay will be Rs.27,866. From August 2013, DA is 88.95%. After merging 60.15 with basic, remaining 28.80% DA will be there. We can expect minimum 10% HRA after revision. So, you get total 38.80% of DA & HRA on Basic Pay. So, total Gross Salary of Bank fresher Probationary Officer (PO) from August 2013 will be Rs.38,678/- (Worst Possible Scenario)
If IBA agree for 25% increment, Final Basic Pay will be Rs.29,026. Total 38.80% of DA & HRA on Basic Pay. So, total Gross Salary of Bank fresher Probationary Officer (PO) from August 2013 will be Rs.40,288/- (Somewhat Good)

Bank Clerk Salary After Revision in 2013:
At present a newly joined Bank Clerk's Basic Pay is Rs.8,000. After merging the 60.15% DA as on 01.11.2011 to Basic Pay, it will be Rs.12,812/- We are expecting minimum 20% increment to this basic pay. At most we get 25% increment.
If IBA agree for 20% increment, Final Basic Pay will be Rs.15,374. From August 2013, DA is 88.95%. After merging 60.15 with basic, remaining 28.80% DA will be there. We can expect minimum 10% HRA after revision. So, you get total 38.80% of DA & HRA on Basic Pay. So, total Gross Salary of Bank fresher Clerk from August 2013 will be Rs.21,339/- (Worst Possible Scenario)
If IBA agree for 25% increment, Final Basic Pay will be Rs.16,015. Total 38.80% of DA & HRA on Basic Pay. So, total Gross Salary of Bank fresher Clerk from August 2013 will be Rs.22,228/- (Somewhat Good)

[nggallery id=114]
Good news to bank employees.. IBA has agreed for merger of Dearness Allowance with the existing Basic Pay as on 1.11.2011. During the course of the talks, the IBA has agreed to fix the 01.11.2011 as base date for merger of Dearness Allowance with the existing Basic Pay. As on 01.11.2011, the Dearness Allowance was 60.15%. 10th bipartite settlement for bankers is due from 01.11.2012.
There is no news regarding the increment in this wage revision. Going by the expectations and the present mood of the ordinary members, we can very well say, anything below 25% will not be acceptable and hence may be rejected outright by a majority of them. If the Trade Union leaders settle for anything less, they face the prospect of being overthrown lock, stock and barrel, by their own fraternity.
According to this Base Date for Merger of Dearness Allowance with the existing Basic Pay of Bank Employees 10th bipartite settlement, Newly recruited PO salary will be 38,000 to 40,000 per month. Newly recruited Clerk salary will be 21,000 to 23,000. I will write detailed post to explain the wage revision calculations if you are interested to know. So, no need to think about your salaries, just prepare well to get placed in any PSU Bank. All The Best!..

In this post i am going to explain how to file or apply RTI to a Bank or any other Organisation to seek information. This is really simple process.
The RTI Act prescribes a very simple procedure for obtaining information. It requires :
Step 1: Writing an application to a bank or any other organisation, specifying the particulars of the information sought. The application may be typed or neatly hand-written. Actually there is no specific format for the application. Indian bank has put up one proforma to file RTI. But there is no compulsion under the law to stick to such proforma. The application should be in English, Hindi or the official language of the area. As the bankers are posted out of state, some PIO's may have difficulty or they don't even know the local language. So it is preferable to write in English or Hindi. It is not required to submit the reasons for seeking information.
Step 2: You are required to pay two types of fee.
a. An application fee is to be paid failing which the application may not be considered as an RTI application. The cost of application fee is Rs.10/- by demand draft or banker’s cheque or Indian Postal Order payable to the Accounts Officer of the public authority.
b. The cost of providing the information is calculated and informed by the PIO to the applicant. It is often called as the further fee.
If an evidence of payment of the ‘application fee’ is not found to be attached with the application, the PIO may reject the application as not a valid application under the RTI Act. Therefore, the application fee has to be paid in advance.
No fee is chargeable under the RTI Act if the person seeking information fall under below poverty line (BPL). You have to attach a certificate of below poverty line (BPL).
Step 3: Sending the application to the concerned Public Information Officer /Assistant Public Information Officer.
