Duleep Trophy 2012 Won by East Zone by Beating Central Zone
East Zone lifted the Duleep Trophy for the second successive time by beating Central Zone in the final held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Iresh Saxena and Anustup Majumdar shared nine wickets between them to script East Zone's Duleep Trophy triumph. The win gave East Zone their second successive Duleep Trophy win.
CK Nayudu Life Time Achievement Award 2012 Won by Sunil Gavaskar
The BCCI’s Col. C.K. Nayudu Award Committee has chosen Sunil Gavaskar as the winner of the Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award 2012. The award comprises a trophy, citation and cheque for Rs. 25 lakhs.
One of the all-time greats, Sunil Gavaskar represented India in 125 Tests from 1970-71 to 1986-87. He scored a record 774 runs in his debut series in the West Indies, and went on to achieve several milestones. He was the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in Tests, and the first to play 100 consecutive Tests. He was the first batsman to score hundreds in each innings of a Test thrice. He was the first batsman to surpass Sir Don Bradman’s tally of twenty-nine Test centuries. He led India in 47 Tests. His greatest triumph as captain was India’s victory in the World Championship of Cricket, a limited-overs tournament featuring all the then Test-playing nations, in 1984-85.
Sunil Gavaskar will receive the Award at the BCCI Awards Ceremony, to be held shortly.
The Committee also decided to honor seven individuals posthumously with a Special Award, for their outstanding contribution to Indian cricket.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) eases Currency Hedging Norms for FIIs
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made it easier for Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) to invest in the domestic equity and debt markets.
FIIs can now approach any Category I dealer bank, authorised to deal in foreign exchange, for hedging their currency risk on the market value of their entire investment in equity and/or debt.
In a recent speech, Deputy Governor H.R. Khan said that during the current financial year, after depreciating by more than 10 per cent till June 2012, the rupee started recovering gradually in response to major central banks’ decision to go for further policy easing and the announcements of another round of reform measures by the Government.

Fallen Wall Street tycoon Rajat Gupta was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay a USD five million fine by a US judge who termed Indian-American's insider trading crimes as "disgusting" and a "terrible breach of trust".
Sun Tv Wins Bid for Deccan Chargers Hyderabad IPL Team Franchise
Sun TV, the South India based media network successfully won the bid to own and run the Hyderabad Indian Premier League(IPL) Deccan Chargers team franchise. The name of the Hyderabad IPL team will be changed in coming days as the owner changed.
SUN TV Network will now pay Rs 85.05 crore per year to the BCCI, for the next ten years, to own the franchise. Sun TV's bid was also substantially higher than the second bid of PVP Ventures, which was at rs 69.03 crore per year. BCCI had placed Rs 300 crore as the base price for the team.
In September this year, the BCCI had terminated the franchisee agreement of Deccan Chargers, following which it had issued tender notices inviting bids for a new franchise.
